Our 2-year Graduate Engineering jobs see participants given a real role with real responsibility within one of our process zones. Supported by your mentor, management and graduate scheme co-ordinators, you will grow and learn within your role as a graduate engineer – working on live projects and collaborating cross-functionally with teams within the plant – to become a fully-trained Process Engineer.
Our graduate engineering jobs follow highly-successful onward career paths within AESC, working in a range of areas and expertise and developing their skills as a Process Engineer.
Your training programme will see a carefully-planned balance of in-house and externally-provided training, cover engineering-specific topics such as Safety for Engineers, as well as learning more general skills. Some courses will be heavily theory-based, while others will focus on practical elements – all of which will be delivered in classroom, on-the-floor or within specialised training rooms. You will quickly be given opportunities to use and build upon your training with live projects and real working environments, working cross-functionally within our operating zones.
You will be assigned a dedicated mentor Engineer during your first year, with support continuing in the second year but with more emphasis on independent working. You will gradually build up to working directly with suppliers and organising work and trials on your own, though this will be carefully phased in line with your confidence and growth while completing engineering graduate jobs. Though the graduate role is a singular scheme position, team-building and socialising with others within your department and zones will be a frequent occurrence.
Our graduate engineering jobs allow you to earn a host of qualifications and certifications while on the scheme, including 6 Sigma green belt, Safe Systems of Work and Level 1 & Level 2 in Electric Vehicles. All of your progress is tracked and monitored by your mentor and graduate scheme co-ordinator, and you will have the chance to feed back into your ongoing focus and progression within the scheme.
With lots of responsibility you can expect to be challenged in your role, with no two days the same. In return, you can expect reward and recognition for the work that you do, as well as the support to thrive in your role. There is always someone from whom to ask advice – our teams are happy to help – and you will have weekly feedback from your senior managers, showing what you have done to actively make a difference. Your work here doesn’t just stay with your department, it has real visibility at all levels within the plant.
