Mission & Main Objectives:

Achieve agreed Engineering KPI’s & Targets, on schedule and within budget, for the development & manufacture of battery cells & modules.  Demonstrate the application of key engineering tools, techniques, and control system design methodologies to deliver world class quality performance levels of site systems and equipment. Ensure seamless integration of site PLC, SCADA, OT networks, data acquisition and the associated equipment infrastructure.

Outline and Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will ideally have a broad-based experience in manufacturing and will represent the Engineering Department in all aspects of designing, developing, and implementing solutions that control dynamic battery manufacturing systems. This may include (but not be limited to) the following responsibilities:

 

  • Support integration, commissioning and acceptance testing activity.
  • Project Manage the delivery of control system projects through appointed System Integrators.
  • Demonstrate proven skills in the application of systems engineering tools and techniques to deliver world class quality performance levels.
  • Conduct system verification, compliance, and regulatory qualification.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, in service troubleshooting and modification of systems.
  • Implementation of control software and verification using simulation tools and real-time test environments.
  • Provide ongoing technical support and work as an integral part of a multi-discipline cross functional team.
  • Liaising with outside suppliers or developers to source the most effective hardware or software solution in line with the business’s needs.
  • Support project specific safety documentation to relevant standard requirements; IEC61508, IEC61511 and EN ISO.13849.
  • Demonstrate excellence in the programing of PLC. HMI and SCADA applications, supporting system concept system design including drafting diagrams and sourcing components.
  • Test new applications within automation equipment for reliability and safety compliance.
Experience and Qualifications Required:

This role would suit an Automation/Software engineer or someone from a production/software background in manufacturing, who is looking to train on new software/automation platforms and grow with a specialist industry leading company. The following list of requirements is desirable; however, all applications will be considered from a Software, Controls, Maintenance, Automation and Robotics background.

 

Key Experience Desired:

  • Professional experience in PLC programming particularly with Mitsubishi and Siemens platforms
  • Have experience in structured software programming to a recognized standard in LDR, ST/SCL and FBD logic
  • Excellent knowledge of modern SCADA platforms and able to demonstrate good working knowledge of network design.
  • Degree/HND/HNC and/or 5 years relevant experience in Electrical/Control Engineering.
  • Planning, schedule control & project management.
  • Have a strong understanding of the design principles related to electrical systems and software engineering.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of mass-manufacturing automatic systems including experience with motion, vision, robotic, sensing technologies and the associated data acquisition of those systems.
  • Knowledge of field bus network protocols between PLCs and equipment instruments such as (Profinet, Ethernet/IP, CC-Link, EtherCAT). Also, knowledge of serial communication protocols such as (RS-232, RS-485) would be advantageous.
